This one happened to be a .32 H&R from the factory, converted by GNR to .40 S&W (10mm about the same). I was just bored with the .32 and the factory Ruger barrel mandating .312" bullets. My other .32's at the time shot .308 fine.
Now I'm back into the .312 game. But the .40 was most practical to me with ammo availability and brass everywhere cheap. I also seat at full 10mm OAL and load with 10mm Auto powder charges. Presto, it's a pseudo 10mm.
There is considerable technical changes to make a Single-six into a 5-shot .400 cal. All steel Bisley frame and the solid Stag grips give it heft that is lacking in a stock Single Six. The BIG hole in the chambers and bore level it all back out.
