David of course was in the lineage of Jesus’ birth. Saul, the less than brave chosen king of Israel (God was actually their king but they pined for a handsome political worldly “king”, which was Saul) failed the fight with the Philistines, and David using his faith, brought a great victory. This success brought jealousy and strife between Saul and David which leads to much of the story and history recorded in the Bible.

I do note David wisely hurried up and cut off Goliath’s head (using Goliath’s own sword) no matter if the stone killed him outright or just knocked him out. It was a wise move. Shot placement and pay the insurance! They usually don’t teach that in the kids Sunday school class! Lol
