rule No1 done, sounds to me from your description that you were over choked, I too shoot a 20 bore quite a bit and usually on the 16 yd line I get by with an imp cyl choke, the back yardage 27 yd I use a imp mod choke. I too feel that the shot column is longer with the sub bores
, as well as the pattern being less dense. My advice for next year , shoot a few practice rounds before you go LOL
