but how can you dislike any lever action that seems to work? My youngest son Benjamin inherited this one in .22 LR. They go back to a German Design from the 1970's that was pretty popular and also imported by Ithaca as the model 72. It's (mostly) blued steel and real hardwood. The alloy receiver cover is painted and I truly despise the one piece plastic front sight/barrel tube ring. But so far so good. The action is very smooth and trigger is workable. The local hillbillies just love them! Especially the really prissy brass plated ones that look more odd, to me. But who am I to say another's pig is ugly?

Between church Benj and I decided to burn a couple boxes of LR. The rear sight on the Henry needed some drifting and we got it centered. I shot my Ruger SP101 4" some and sighted it in. It at least has sights I can see well. Benj did pretty well but said he was struggling with the irons. He got it dialed to about 1-1/2" off-hand groups at 25 yds. We had a good time for a few bucks worth of .22 rounds.

Later we got to goofing around and scrounged up a Bushnell 4X and some steel rimfire rings. By golly we think it really transformed the rig. We have not shot it yet, but it did not bulk up the slim little rifle and seems to greatly enhanced it's utility. It took something that was fun and transformed it into something really interesting. It should do at least 2" groups near 50 yds. I'd hope. We'll sure see. The top recieiver cover seems sturdy enough for the light scope and is long enough to spread out the rings properly. Something not possible on my little Browning BL22, or the Marlin 39 etc. You know they do make these in .22 WMR! That indeed might hold some possibilities!
