Redfield and Lyman both made scopes designed to be mid-eye relief and mount at the normal rear sight point. I see them in the late 1950's and early 60's magazines advertising. Never saw one in person.

We did make one on an Argentine 1891 Mauser re-barreled to 7x57. My friend still has it. A left over TC Lobo 3X scope topped it off. We bobbed the barrel to around 16-17". Even with the straight bolt handle it is a peach. Anyone can shoot it and it drills nice 7mm holes!

I'm re-creating a long lost fetish of a young boy. It had to be a side mount and a real 1894. They make a "short" side ring-mount and a long one. You have to use a long one on the 94. The short one is for bolt actions. If you find one today it's likely 40-50 yrs. old.
