The .357 Maximum Chamber Pressure set by SAAMI is 35,000 PSI. If you load it to the original pressures when it was first developed you get a little more out of it. But that should be done in heavy frame guns only.
Anymore I don't run them that hard and most of the time I am shooting .38 Special loads. Easier on powder and lead and not so much blast.
Early loads were in brass that used a Large Pistol Primer.
