at night with spotlights. I forgot to mention the guides really like 22 Magnums for these critters and that was the only time I ever saw a Ruger 22 Magnum 10-22. I know Ruger dropped them for some reason and I never got to see one for sale, other than on the internet, but I shot probably 35 or 40 Possums and maybe 25 Wallabies with it in New Zealand. It was a really good feeling rifle, beefier a bit over the standard 22 LR. It never failed me in shooting a couple of boxes of ammo that evening.

Never heard why Ruger dropped it. I know if a gun is going to jam, whether it is a handgun or rifle, the 22 Magnum will make it do so. There is so much variance in power in the 22 Magnum with the foreign ammo either being way too hot or too weak.
I have quite a few 22 Magnum rifles and semi auto handguns and once I find out what ammo they like I tape a little note to the stock or grips telling me what ammo to run thru it. I am really fond of the 22 Magnum and I think Ruger should have given the 22 Magnum version of the 10-22 a better chance before dumping it. There are some out there. I have seen one or two on gunbroker but extremely high priced.
