shot loads in the sixgun always seemed like a waste of time and good powder. I have factory shot loads for the .38/.357 Magnum that I bought more than 25 years ago for some reason and never shot any of them. I used shot loads in the .22 rifle but they were just for blistering the neighbors dogs when they came nosing around my goats.

I always found a full power .45 Colt or .44 Magnum or .357 Magnum worked quite well on snakes and other crawly things without resorting to shot. If I need to use shot I like to shoot an ounce and a quarter of it at one time. :-D
