As part of our ongoing Ruger 2030 strategy, we continue to evaluate every aspect of our business to ensure that we are investing in our people, manufacturing capacity and resources where they can create the greatest value for our consumers, customers and the Ruger brand.
An important part of that work is the ongoing review and rationalization of our product portfolio.
Product line rationalization does not simply mean reducing the number of products we manufacture. It means continuously evaluating our portfolio against current consumer demand, evolving market preferences, manufacturing complexity, opportunities for modernization and innovation, and the long-term profitability of each product family. This allows us to focus our resources on the products consumers want most today while creating the capacity to develop the products they will want tomorrow.
Managing product lifecycles has also always been a normal part of Ruger's business.
Throughout our history, we have temporarily paused production of established product families, including the 77-Series rifles, the 22 Charger™ and the SR1911® pistol, as market conditions and manufacturing priorities changed. In other cases, we have used natural points in a product's lifecycle to significantly redesign and improve important Ruger platforms, as we have done through generational changes to products such as the Red Label™ shotgun, the Ruger American® Rifle and the Ruger Precision® Rifle.
That same disciplined approach is now being applied across our current portfolio.
As part of our Ruger 2030 product portfolio review, we have taken a closer look at several of our lower-volume and legacy product families, considering current market demand, changing consumer interests and opportunities for future redesign, modernization and innovation.
As a result, we are making the following changes to our current product portfolio.
Production Suspended Effective Immediately
Production of the following current-generation product families is being suspended effective immediately: LCR®, Ruger SP101®, GP100® and Bearcat®. All open distributor orders for models within these product families will be canceled.
Final Production Through Year-End
The following current-generation product families will continue through planned final production runs over the remainder of 2026: SR1911®, LC Carbine™ / PC Charger™, PC Carbine™ / LC Charger™, Redhawk® / Super Redhawk®, Blackhawk® / Super Blackhawk®, Single-Series revolvers, Vaquero®, No. 1, 77-Series rifles, Hawkeye® and Ruger Precision® Rifle.
These products will be placed on allocation as we complete remaining production. Following completion of these final production runs, open orders for affected models that have not been fulfilled will be canceled.
All affected models remain subject to Ruger's UMDRP at this time.
We recognize the importance many of these product families have to Ruger, our distributors, retailers and consumers. This is precisely why we view these decisions as part of managing their evolution – not simply ending their history.
Suspending production does not necessarily mean saying goodbye to these product families.
In many cases, we believe there are opportunities to bring important Ruger platforms forward through new designs, improved features, modern manufacturing methods and meaningful innovation. We expect many of these names and product families to return in new forms in the months and years ahead.
These actions are another step in positioning Ruger for long-term success through product innovation, manufacturing modernization and profitable expansion.
Just as importantly, they do not change who Ruger is, the markets in which we compete or the consumers we are committed to serving. Our heritage remains an important part of our future. Our responsibility is to build upon that heritage by ensuring the products that carry the Ruger name continue to evolve with the needs and expectations of today's consumers.
We appreciate your continued partnership and support as we execute Ruger 2030 and build the next generation of Ruger products.
Sincerely,
Ruger Sales Team
