I'm certain I've also mishandled it all my life too. As a kid I gnawed on lead paint toys and window sills, stalked birds with lead pellets in my mouth. I was ignorant, didn't know any better. Later I've cast and handled lead with my hands. To hear some guys they suit up like HAZMAT folks to cast. I bet a HAZMAT crew would be ordered to de-con my casting area, 5 O'clock new stuff for sure.

In truth I truly think the exposure is not truly understood and more than a little overrated. Parts per billion, parts per trillion, it's all BS when you corner a scientist and ask the right questions. For the greater good kind of thing.

But that paint coating does add a barrier between the lead and bore, keeps you from contacting it or dust, eliminates lead vapors on firing, and it is not smoky at all when you shoot UNLESS you add liquid alox afterward. Which is OK if that's what you are into. If price is pretty close I'd sure go for it.

Casting them yourself and adding the baked on coating adds 0.002-0.003" to the overall diameter. So you do need to allow for that and re-size. A delightful exception are 9mm bullets (.355") to be shot in a .38/.357 (.358"), coating them bumps them up just right!
