I've shot it a bit, my wife too (she's a true terror with it!). You could do a lot worse than copy it. Ditto the Swedish K, I like simple things. German stuff (I have a BMW and Mercedes) I find perplexing in a pleasing way. Simple it ain't. Thank goodness the MP5 is blow back, that feature is one that's made it so successful.
I personally found the UZI compact, if heavy, but so controllable in full auto fire. The slower rate of fire compared to modern buzz-saws suits me just fine. 50 and probably even 100 yd. bursts accuracy is impressive to me. Semi-auto it shoots with any sporter.
I was not knocking Ruger for copying the UZI, just interesting. The article points that out too. They still make them. Looks to be a lot lighter and competing with the MP5K for under suit coat hiding.
