Bear protection

This is a strictly academic question for me but here goes.
Given the choice of single action, double action, or semi auto (10mm).
What would be the choice of the experts for bear protection both brown and black.
Single action is probably most reliable.
Double action can be fired without cocking the hammer if the bear is chewing on you.
Semi auto can, at least for me, be fired more accurately.

The closest I have and probably will ever be to a bear was the black bear that collapsed the corner of my tent stepping on my leg. Truth is he was more scared than me.
