Reading about the Cape Buffalo taken with a relatively low powered handgun, I was reminded that this is nothing new. In the 1880's there are verified reports of people "sport shooting" American Bison with the S&W .44 Russian revolver. The ballistics of that cartridge are pretty light ... a 236 gr. bullet at 750 fps. Hardly what I would call a hunting round. To my mind, not "sporting" at all.
