the mule deer.
The old South Gate place is gone and new buildings were built.

I visited there several times in 1975. At the time, I had a 300 WBY and you could buy once fired brass for $2 a box which was from their test range in the basement. I should have bought a box of all their calibers.

Sometime later, I bought a 240 WBY barreled action from Fowler's Gunshop. Fowlers had an explosion in the mid 80's that killer several people when a fire set off the powder magazine.

I found a used 44 Auto Mag there which also came with a 357 Auto Mag barrel. They said it was a Jam-a-matic and the owner wanted no part of it. After a little break in, no more problems with jamming.

Then there was Sierra Bullets where you could buy bullets by the pound. They would make a run to polish the dies and they were called seconds. They shot fine and I still have some of them in different calibers.

It would be nice to go back and live that period over again.
