Due to the wide rim of the 357 Magnum case. Otherwise it would get into the transfer bar channel when opening the loading gate.
My 256 Winchester required a five shot cylinder. I'm sure all the same rules would apply since the same base case is used for both rounds.
If I'm wrong on any of this, Gary can correct me.
I highly recommend this conversion. No finer Trail Gun our there than my own Old Model build.
I have one more Old Model base gun hoarded back. I'm torn between the 321 GNR and the old 38-44 H.D. Special. I'll have to decide or find another base gun and build both.
