Why are bolt action AR's so expensive???

I'd think (and have seen at least one) that you could do away with the gas system completely and maybe use the buffer system for a "bolt return", use the whole rig as a "straight pull" repeater. No hassles with ammo power or specifics, add a handle to the bolt and have at it. You could have lots of caliber options then and it would be just as suitable for hunting applications. I was thinking about Doug's Blaser which is basically that same thing. Although a "collet" bolt head rather than a rotary as the AR platform. Blaser bolt handle moves maybe 1/4" releasing the collet and then it's a straight pull on rails. It's goofy as crap with the mag and trigger connected but it flat works.

There would be a whole list of parts you'd not need that should offset the costs some!
