1) some caliber that will reach out with accuracy better than 500 yards 2) a caliber or ammo that doesn't weigh enough to bring you to your knees with a full combat load out 3) a gun that has a magic shield on it that will protect from enemy fire 4) a gun that doesn't weigh 9 pounds and has a recoil that will drive an elephant backwards

Other than that, can't think of anything that the M14 can't do better than all the magic .22's or 270's!
