I must remember Gary's lesson. I've killed hogs with a hand gun but not a deer. The first year I got my 41 GNR I shot an 8 Point walking back from an evening hunt. I hit him and he went down and I was pumped and started holler'n. I started to walk to him and it is getting dark and he jumps up and starts running up the mountain. I drew my pistol and shot at him as he passed by at about 40 yards but hit a tree. I went to the spot where he was and found dark red blood. He was quartering to me more than I thought and I got him in the liver. Once he got up he didn't leak to much more. My flashlight went dead and I went to my friends house down the mountain and we both started up the mountain. I left my hat where I found the last blood. When we made it on top the mountain following blood and tracks the coyotes cut loose on the next mountain. They were tearing him to pieces. Lesson learned. I was sick.
