Not sure what I was thinking, just goofing.

Yeah Sunny, it does not hurt anything and we'll just shoot them up. Eventually. I was really looking at a 16" carbine and wanted to try a side charging upper. Alas, procrastination allowed them to be all picked over. So the more standard rear charging 10.5" project it is. Several friends have hinted that it will kick the snot out of me fired from the shoulder. I have no intentions to mount a scope, just a dot type sight. No scope eyebrow.

The ballistics will be interesting in the shorter barrel. Using Gary's formula it will probably loose around 200 fps. I'll see and let you know. Cheating with slicker bullets will re-gain 100 fps easy. Sort of a AR version of a .454 Casull.

The .458 SOCOM has a different rifling twist specification for really heavy bullets up to 500 grs. for subsonic shooting. I was not really interesting in going there myself. The .50 BW sounded fun but I have .510" stuff and didn't want to have .501" stuff laying around too. My hope is that I can make it shoot Cowboy SWC and feed through that magazine.

I'll have to post a pic of my eclectic collection of ARs. Not practical, not tactical, just fun.
