I installed all the same features the PD had.

The S&W 360 and the S&W 351PD are the exact same gun except one has a rim fire frame mounted firing pin and the other has a center fire frame mounted firing pin. Both are Scadinum J-frames with shrouded barrels. The 360 has cheap rubber grips and is chambered for .38 Spec. +P if you are bad enough to handle it. It sells for under $500 in most retailers. The .351PD is a 7-shot WMR and boasts wood grips and a fiber optic front sight as premium features over the 360 .38. It actually flies off the dealer shelves for $750-800 and even higher than suggested retail! I don’t understand why, nor why suggested is so much higher?

I installed a fiber green front on the 360 and ordered custom wood grips. This formed a hybrid model that S&W never offered, a “361PD” I would figure. It was fun and economical. Oh my but did it sting in terrible recoil! It was my folly installing those pretty wood grips. On the sissy .22 WMR it didn’t matter, on the .38 no matter what I shot, the 13 oz. gun was just painful. In contrast I have a 16 oz. 40 S&W with twice the kinetic energy that is ok. So I sold it. Kept the grips for an all steel gun.

I am not cheap, but I do demand fair value. If a green truck is $5000 and a red truck basically the same is $8000 I can clearly see they are trying to screw me. Shame on them, I’ll take my business elsewhere. I’ll just decide not to want the red truck, maybe go buy a blue one! Lol
