WB , my great grandfather immigrated to the US via New Orleans from Germany before the start of WW1. My paternal side of the family lived in New Orleans until my Father was in late stages of elementary school when they moved to central MS. My fathers side of the family has been called coon ass my many MS people but from what I understand you have to have a French background to be a true coon ass. So look for those sir names in your search!

I moved to the MS Gulf Coast and we have our on French background community in Biloxi. It weird because that town has its own accent from any other coastal town.
