Blake and Kase know a lot about those on the 1911

The skinny is the recoil spring "system", along with custom barrel throating, and a chambered recoil reducing brake. Blake uses a special designed system that uses multiple progressive tuned springs. I can attest that it is one smooth shooting rig.

The heavy recoil spring really hammers your slide "notch" on the last round. Old military slides in particular. It can peen them pretty badly. I also found that the firing pin stop plate was originally designed as a square bottomed piece by John Browning and the military in WWI altered it to a beveled part so the GI's could rack the slide easier from hammer down. A square one slows the slide in recoil and racks the frame up less. I installed one on my 10mm and went back to a 18-19 lb. spring. I could not rack a round it was so stiff for me, even with the hammer already cocked. Arthritis and old age.

I've shot hot 10mm almost up to hot .45 Super specs. It's rough on a gun even set up for it. But it's for protection or hunting and in moderation it is fine. Increased maintenance compared to the low pressure rounds originally intended.
