It's a BIG gun. It's still a plastic chassis though. I personally see my G21 as more robust as to taking a pounding. I am running a 26# spring under a custom Wolf barrel that has an extended throating. The bullet moves maybe 1/3" before hiting the rifling and beginning to build pressure. An old Roy Weatherby trick. I also have a Tri-port compensated brake on it. I've shot the 230 gr. at 1300 fps easily, I actually hit 1400 but backed off some. The barrel is 5.5".

I did some trigger work on it playing with less expensive alternatives to fancy drop in units. The gun shoots like a custom 1911 if you can hold it and work the trigger system. It puts a 1911 to shame as a simplistic machine but is very toolish.

The HK is too much ($1000) to screw with too a lot and the aftermarket is pretty thin. Most .45's can shoot limited +P and not be hurt much. The plastic frames flex and absorb lots of the beating, the whole thing is a buffer! Bad thing about HK is every 5 yrs. or so they come out with a new version and your old one is obsolete, and the $50 mags.

This is mainly for size reference. Right now the Glock has the stock 4-3/4" ACP barrel, the 1911 is actually a 10mm Javelina. I have barrels for the Glock to make it shoot 9mm, .40 S&W, 10mm, and .45 Super/Rowland besides the ACP.
