I live in southern Worcester County Massachusetts.

Pros: My job with benefits although it is a 45 minute to 1 hour commute depending on the traffic and weather conditions.

Close friends in the area.

One decent family member( he has a small 40 acre farm I can hunt on)

Familiarity with the area:

Long time membership in Rod and Gun club.

Cons:

Summers seem to be more humid. I don't do humidity too well.

Winters: They aren't as cold and snowy as my youth but I really dislike shoveling.

Hunting: It seems to have gone downhill in the last decade. I do not see the deer like I once did.

Taxes: Taxes are rather high as well as overall cost of living.

Gun laws: Although I live in a small town without a problem of getting a CCW it always seems to be an uphill battle with the gun laws. I'd love to own and hunt with a suppressor but that is not legal.

Hunting Laws: Massachusetts is a shotgun state for deer. I love handgun hunting but I cannot hunt deer or turkey with a handgun. You cannot carry a handgun while bowhunting, shotgun hunting or muzzleloader hunting for deer.

Hunting other game: Small game is almost non existent. I would love to shoot some rabbits with my 22 pistol but most of them are in people's back yards. Same with woodchucks. It sounds weird but there was more opportunity for this as a teen than now.

Land prices: Land here is very expensive and when I really think about it, I would not want to buy a piece of land and live in Massachusetts. I do now due to inheritance but I would not really want to move here.

Political Climate: Massachusetts is very liberal-left with the exception of small towns. The greater Boston area sways the rest of the state. As an example last Saturday the chief of police in my old home town participated in a Black Lives Matter demonstration. I was out in the woods thankfully but I can kind of see the winds of change( an ill wind) moving my way.

So sorry about that. Many long time posters here know I am from Massachusetts.
