Whether or not I needed or will need seems irrelevant. Interestingly enough, it was at the best price I've seen in years.
The really hot 22 LR ammo (40 grn HP @ 1300 fps) stuff well under $8/100. Like you said, buy what you need now. Ammo will likely benefit you more than a few bucks will anyways.
