I hang out and help behind the counter at the local LGS. They open @ 10am, 15 mins later the place is packed and the phone rings constantly, mostly for ammo. Gun sales and online pickups number 20-30 a day. I hit the range between the busloads. The beginners class is $39/half hour and they had over 70 last week, mostly new gun buyers who have never shot.
But what tells me the most is how people act and what they say. Fear reigns, it's on everybody's face, except for the old Veterans, retired LEOs and the daily range rats. Most walk-ins know little if anything, but are too proud to listen to good advice. All the regulars come later in the day when the scary folk are in front of the TV. Trump's not great, but the alternative is dark days ahead.
