The weird turn Pro...

With so many guys pining about dwindling components I decided to revisit an old fascination. ML arms, I have a bunch of them long unused. Why not?! I find lots of Pyrodex and 777 at the stores, about all that is left for powder. BTW you CAN use it in centerfire ctgs too! I’ve even used a .45 powder pellet in a .45 Colt case before to just see what it would do. It shoots, with a big ball of fire! Since GNR moved to AZ from FL, and TN before he's missed out for the most part playing with BP. Some fear they will burn down the utopia! Some nuts certainly could too.

I did make a favorable trade today for this White .504 inline ML. I’ve never had a modern “in-line” before. I have flintlocks, sidehammers, a double side lock, but never an inline. This special bore size is actually a .512” bore with shallow grooves. Normal .50 cal. ML are .500 bores. Not a big difference but it’s for a reason specified by the maker. He’s a mad genius, and weird. I like that. A .504 bullet fits between the “lands”, the tight dimension in the bore, and being soft lead it upsets at firing to bump up and completely fill/seal the bore. Other modern ML does that too but with slightly smaller bores and different deeper lands.

I was also fortunate to score an apparently unopened old stock box of Musket caps. Good, I have (3) guns that spec. them. We could not open them in the store, tin box was rusted shut, we were fearful of scattering them all over the shop! We agreed on a price ($15) and by weight figured most surely were in there, and as specified on the top. LOL I plan on actually ordering some spec. bullets and special sabots for this rig. I hope to enjoy the research and testing soon. For now it is a delightful diversion from personal nagging worries and trials. I think that’s healthy too. Go Misfits!
