to say I probably have the least amount of experience taking game with a handgun as compared to anybody here. The few I have shot were all with cast bullets.

A Bison was shot at about 35 yards with 454 and a 310 gr. water dropped WFN. The spine was hit and dropped right there. Deer have been shot with the 454 Casull and 455 GNR with WFN and LFN bullets. It seems that with deer most of the time I have noticed a short flat out run with them dying mid stride or laying down after not too far.

Coyotes have all been called in so close shots. With the 455 GNR and 300 gr. LBT LFN-HP or a 260 gr. 454424, they have all dropped where they were shot.

As for Rock Chucks any good cast HP from the 218 Mashburn Bee Coyote Classic, the 300 GNR or a SWC from the 455 GNR will suffice.

I have killed a lot more deer with my flint rifle than a revolver, but with a patched round ball (230 grs of lead at about the same velocity) I notice the same results.
