I wonder where that style really came into play post 1873? Cap and ball guys ALWAYS loaded all 6 as it took such time. They even made little hammer keepers between the chambers on the C&B cylinders. The load one, skip one, load four, cock, let down, thing might have been a fanciful disclosure of some writer for one of those old west novels. It does sound more colorful than load five, and ease the hammer down. lol

Wonder what the Army manuals taught? What about the Schofield?
