I polish the round part of the loading gate the spring

rides on, and just knock the burrs off the spring. I leave the highest point alone and maybe lengthen the lower point. If you shorten the higher point you take a chance at the gate not staying shut, the angle holds it closed, and the worse case is it will no longer drop the bolt and clear the cylinder.
