cartridge guy in the world. When I first started developing my own cartridges back in '78 I started with the 30-40 and the 303. Every one I came up with Dave Manson of Manson Reamers would tell me "nope, 3 guys have done that one" Or 4 guys or 5. Those 2 pieces of brass have been overdone completely. You can't use up the case capacity of those 2 cases due to a lack of case strength. I went to the 405 case as it is a much stronger case and there are more cartridges that can be made on them. You mentioned the 25, 264, 7mm, or 30 caliber. We have those calibers and several more based on the 405 case and they will beat the 30-40 and 303 in every way. We have the 405 case necked down to 25, 270, 7mm, 308,338, 8mm, 358, 366 and 375. And they have been used by hunters all over the world. Several of those calibers were used in the African hunt I just got back from by 3 or 4 of the hunters. Everything up to elephant have been taken by those cartridges.
We also have 12 cartridges based on the 30-30 case from .224 up to .40 and they will all out-do the 30-40 and 303 based cartridges due to the strength of the 30-30 case.
So thanks for the thoughts but no 30-40 or 303 wildcats for me.
