brought something to us that we try not to admit, that we are not invincible. We are all going to die. But this brings it closer to home. The fact that she agreed to DNR (do not resuscitate). Would I have the balls to do that? Give myself a death decree? I am not young anymore, at least my body says that but my mind refuses to admit that yes, I am going to die, maybe sooner than later. I know that, but if I had to give a DNR decision today, could I do it? This little lady is stronger than I could ever be. Maybe giving the DNR she knows she won't be in any pain anymore. Maybe she is just tired of all the surgeries and pain. Maybe she is just ready. Could I do that? Could I give up and cut the last string holding me to this life? I don't know. But it scares hell out of me to think I might have to do just that one day.
