Aortic and mitral valves replaced, aneurysm repair and one bypass I had several major complications and was so low sick and feeling so bad I had reconciled myself to the fact that I might not make it. Made peace with the Lord and possibility of passing back then. Of course I was so low sick in such pain and discomfort that actually helped me make the decision easier at the time. Had to spend an additional day on the ventilator and it was a terrible experience. I am not sure that I would want to live on one for an extended kength of time. All that being said, I don't know if it would be that easy of a decision to make today now that I am almost back to feeling well and normal. I worked in ICU as an advanced practice RN for years. I saw many patients come in as DNRs who begged for all possible measures to be taken in order to maintain life. We just need to make our peace with the Lord daily because we never know when our earthly end shall come, we just know it will. Allison gas showed much greater fortitude than I could have in similar circumstances.
