to the point when seating the ball I sometimes had to cut part of the ball off 'cuz it was sticking out too far for the cylinder to rotate.

I did that on a brass-framed .36 replica quite a few times until one day when I fired it the barrel, cylinder and cylinder pin all went downrange.
