I have been flat tipping ammo and hand drilling HP for about 40 yrs. Gary came out with his innovative little gauge tool that uniformly flat tips both .22 LR and Shorts (!) for the exact reason Federal just "discovered". However the concept is perfectly valid and should work wonderfully. Speer also had a SGB rimfire line about 10 yrs. ago that did the same thing.
