idiot craze a lot of companies made semi short barreled rifles. Remington's model 7 was one such animal. Other companies made rifles in 20" barrels and they did fine as most of our standard powders will burn in a 20" barrel with no problem.

Then the big magnum cartridges were the craze and extra long barrels were the thing especially with the wannabe sniper crowd.

Now the scrotum is swinging the other way and short to medium length rifle barrels are back in vogue. People finally realized that it doesn't take a 28 inch barrel to burn all the powder in the various 6.5, 6.8 and 8.6 do wop calibers. What goes around comes around.
