at the base but I go them to work. The very best I found was .444 Marlin brass. But you do not need to work the mouths too much as they will split. Just glue in a overshot card wad.
I made some .45 Colt full cylinder length shot shells from cut off .30-06. I headspaced off the chamber shoulder and made a bit of a necked round, like a .44-40. Once formed they ran fine in the SA. I think I used .30-30's for my .41 Mag. full length shotshells.
