I shot quite a few desert Mulies in Arizona with heavy .45 Colt loads and plain wheelweight cast bullets. A shot through the shoulders or just behind sometimes resulted in a short run and then a pile-up. I used both the Keith SWC and the 457191 300 gr. .45-90 bullet at first. Later I used LBT LFN's but always returned to the Keith SWC. Never worried whether they expanded or not and never recovered a bullet so I suppose they didn't .. but they worked.
