just plain ole dumb luck. My favorite way to hunt them is spot and stalk, but as you can see in the picture, cover is a little thin in that area.

This is a transition area between bedding and feed. There are 3 places to sit that have cover. Two of them are broken down center pivots that have been moved out of the fields and replaced with new, and the third is a small pile of rock.

It's just luck on which one something may walk by. Does and fawns, take your pick any of the three will have deer go by them. To tell you the truth, I was really surprised to see this guy out so early. Usually after the season starts the bucks turn nocturnal around here.

So now you know as much about Mule Deer hunting as I do.
