My continuing fight with the Lyman 450 machine

I know it's been around since the 1880's but it just does not like me. I can get my work done from it but I get goo everywhere and have to sort various issues.

So I have $50 worth of very tight gas checks for these 10mm 200 gr. bullets. I've never figured out how that Lyman gas check seater is supposed to work. Never really messed with it. So I finger align and mash in the sizer. I probably need to sort a method of annealing the checks first off. Then I may use my own method of pushing the checks home without damaging the bullets. I MIGHT even size first in the LEE press then only lube with the Lyman. I thought powder coating but the checks would be murder to get on then. Perhaps .41 checks post powder coating?

This shaving has plagued me often with many bullets. I have a good nose punch and think I'm being careful. Still I get 4-5% shaving. I don't want to send this to Irv so I'll shoot them. Has anyone seen this or figured the issue to solve it? This was on a cold first run, maybe once it's hot and greasy it will be less prolific.
