friend David. Back in our younger years I had a bevy of .357's . Rugers, both SA and DA, Dan Wesson, K-frames, and a half-dozen very expensive Colt Pythons. I had settled upon a 8" Blue Python as my ultimate accurate revolver. It would shoot under 3" groups at 100 yds. from a good rest using the Leupold scope. Dave and I had many shoots he with his M27 and my Python. He did well with my Python but I did even better with HIS M27. He joked it was because using it we were 3/8” closer to start off. LOL

It delighted him that the big N-frame not only hung with the Colt at about 50% less cost, but it was a LOT easier to shoot too. The Python grip is total POO and I'll tell that to anyone, I'm a Colt die-hard too. It's saving grace was the glassy smooth hand honed action and by design precise locked action upon firing. The chassis was smaller than the N-frame, closer to today's L-frame and that heavy under lugged barrel helped with keeping the front sight steady.

But that long snouted N-frame would just shoot! A big grip that everyone could find a hold to suit, softer recoil, and that wonderful long sight radius. Actually the more tinny Dan Wesson could be adjusted to equal the Python but us Colt guys never discussed such things.

I've not shot the gun since Dave's passing but even holding it brings a big smile to my face, remembering his chuckle and delight in those tight groups with about any loading, jacketed or cast bullets. I fancied Blue Dot or H110 and he just used 2400 powder.
