will take anything on this planet. Hornady ammo is some of the best there is. Hot but sensible loads. I used a JSP 350 grain bullet a year or so ago in my 510 GNR on an African lion and the bullets went all the way thru. There are guys that brag about running a 400 grain bullet at 1500 to 1550 but that is not needed. All that does is do wear & tear on you and your handgun. I shot a big bear in Alaska with a 425 grain bullet at 1400 fps loaded by a commercial loader and I shot the bear from kissing distance and both rounds went all the way thru.
If you have your choice of ammo for dangerous game I would recommend the 350 to 400 grain soft point bullet. I shot a bear here recently again at kissing distance and using 45 ACP JHPs. 3 rounds did nothing to the bear but pissed him off. The hollow points clogged up with bear fat and hair and turned into FMJs.
After that I will never carry a JHP in any of my guns that might be used for dangerous game. Just my humble opinion.
