Here in Alaska i have an 8 x 8 insulated 2X4 wall chicken house. When temp is below zero I have two 250 watt lamps running. My mini door is just a press board 1/2 thick and close it then so the eggs don’t freeze. Above zero the door is open with a panel of turf hanging. The little draft from a cut out corner in the door allow the chickens to go out any time they want. Happy chickens happy layers. They have continous light in winter.
