ducks but maybe 50 or 60 chickens. Every time I went to Olsons, our feed store, the owner would have a different breed of baby chicks. I had to try them so I would buy 6 or 8 and then next week he would have another new breed of chicks so I ended up with another 6 or 8. As I mentioned I ended up with over 200 birds, both chickens and ducks. I had them for about 14 or 15 years, maybe a bit longer and had no problems. My hen house then was 25 X 20 feet. I had some health problems crop up and hauling 50 gallons of water twice a day for the ducks got to be too hard plus when I went off to Africa or wherever Colleen would have to take care of them so I sold them and converted that big hen house into a tool shed. Last spring I decided to get back into chickens but not big time. I bought 10 chicks and built a 10 X 8 hen house. This one wasn't as well insulated as the old one. That was why I was a bit skeptical. I just checked the birds and all seems to be well. One of my hens turned out gay so I have 9 layers and get 9 eggs every day.
Thanks for the ideas guys.
