The monkey needs a lot of training and practice. That's why we went to the range so much in basic training and AIT. Hitting man size silhouette targets at 500 yards with peep sights took training and a modicum of skill. Some trainees had more problem than others. everywhere we went around the company grounds, PT field and barracks there were "sight pictures" for various yardages. They showed approximately where to hold the sights on a man at 100, 200, 300 yards etc for center mass hits with a M16 sighted in at 100 yards. Then we moved up to the M21, another game altogether. Then the yardage was much longer. But with both rifles we had to allow for bullet drop after the first 100 yards. Also the 6.5 Swede is an intriguing round to me. Wouldn't mind adding one to my arsenal.
