Just scraped it off with my finger nail. You can purposely add a little lite oil to the barrel and add the epoxy to the underside of the base, a very small amount. That's if you are worried about cleaning it off later. I may show pics of how I do it for at least some reference. Really not that much as pressure spreads it out. You do want to immediately wipe any excess off flush with the base/barrel interface for a clean appearance.

You are just filling voids between the barrel and mount, tiny as they are, so there is no flexing or movement. Think of it, you have about a pound of weight held on with four teeny #8 screws with only 4-6 turns of thread each. You could very well use alcohol to clean both surfaces for a little better adherence if you wanted it. It would still come off pretty easy. The "blue" Lock-tite keeps screws held firm without causing problems removing them later.

Gary is the expert, I'm only validating the application as hillbilly proof and easily doable for anyone.
