the store brand guns can be the buy of a lifetime

Various companies made guns for Sears, Montgomery Ward, Woolworths, Western Auto, J.C.Pennys, Coast to Coast and a lot more. Guns by Winchester, Marlin, Savage, Mossberg, Stevens, Fox, High Standard, Sako and a lot more. These are the same guns as put out under the gun company's name with maybe a bit less fancy wood. But they are real bargains these days.
A few years ago at the Tulsa show Kase was wandering around and spotted a 577 Nitro double rifle marked Army-Navy which was a big sporting goods store in Europe. He came back to my tables and asked me about it. I looked it up and they were made by both Holland and Holland and Jeffery's and sons. Either way it was a $75,000 gun and was priced at $12000 as the guy at the table had never heard of the Army-Navy brand. I went over to the table to grab it and it had just sold. That would have been a great buy for a true English side by side rifle.

I have seen Winchester Model 70s priced super low that were marked Sears model 100 and Winchester model 94s listed as Sears 53 and so on. So they are a real bargain if you watch the gun shows.
