45-70 handload/pressure question
Tuesday, February 19, 2019, 12:29

Hornady manual lists Marlin 1895 45-70 handloads as "maximum of 40,000 cup..." AND Ruger No. 1 45-70 handloads as "maximum of 50,000 cup"...

I'm handloading for an 18" G2 Carbine frame/45-70 barrel, my gut tells me to take 1 or 2 grains off the maximum Marlin 1895 loads, just to be safe.

Example: 300gr JSP bullets have a MAX load of 52.3grs of RL-7 for the Marlin 1895 in the Hornady manual. I have loaded cartridges that are 50.2 grs of RL-7 for the 300gr. JSP I intend to use in the G2 setup.

Any thoughts?
