Back when I shot competition with an Anschutz 1813 Super Match I was always amazed at the variations in 22 ammo. Even something like Eley Tennex could show big variations in accuracy between different lots. The trick was to find a supplier that had a large supply and buy a box from each lot that he had and test if for accuracy. When you found the best lot then you would order a couple thousand rounds of that lot.. Some of the cheap ammo shot really well, and some of the pricey stuff didn't. Just depends on your gun, but it's still eye opening to try a bunch of ammo through a really accurate rifle and see the big difference...
