Most will not function with shorts or longs unless you remove and carefully clean the floating chamber and its' recess. My brother in law got one that wouldn't function, and when I took it apart, almost half the bolt had been ground off by "Bubba", probably to try to get it to function with 22 shorts... "Bubba" was unsuccessful and I had to find a new bolt on ebay to restore it to functioning. They aren't really that hard to take apart and clean. Spare or replacement parts can be very difficult to come by. Trigger pull is so-so. Functioning is usually ok with 22 long rifle...
I'd rather have a Ruger 10/22......
